Commissioned works at the Joseph Joachim Violin Competition

For each competition, the Stiftung Niedersachsen commissions a composition from a renowned composer. The commissioned works are usually pieces for solo violin and are premiered at the competition. The pieces of contemporary music are sent to the competition participants just a few weeks before their performance. Since 2015, the best interpretation and performance of the commissioned work has been honored with prize money.
