The Brandenburger Symphoniker is also actively involved in the performance of contemporary orchestral music as part of the "Brandenburger Biennale" composer competition.

For many years, the Brandenburger Symphoniker has been a permanent partner orchestra of the Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler" and the Universität der Künste in Berlin in the training of young musicians and conductors. The Brandenburger Symphoniker also organises a wide range of music education projects with children and young people every year. For its concept for stronger cultural work in rural areas ("REACH"), the orchestra was selected by the German government in 2017 for the " Exzellente Orchesterlandschaft Deutschland " programme.
